ELMHURST WOMAN CHARGED IN STABBING (2024)

An Elmhurst woman has been charged with aggravated battery in the stabbing of a man who lived in her home as a boarder.

Regina Blair, 39, of 550 Crockett Ave., allegedly stabbed Eden VonSurma in the head, abdomen, arms and lung on Oct. 11, according to an indictment returned by the Du Page County grand jury and made available Monday.

Elmhurst police said the incident began as an argument.

In another indictment, three Hinsdale area teenagers have been charged with taking candy from 12-year-old Halloween trick-or-treaters and punching two of them seriously enough to require hospital treatment.

Jason A. Burke, 17, of 10S272 Birnam Trail, James J. Stancel, 17, also of the Birnam Trail address and John W. Also charged was a 16-year-old juvenile whose name was not disclosed.

In one case they allegedly grabbed a Willowbrook boy, shoved him to the ground and took his candy bag; in the other they allegedly did the same to a Darien girl, according to indictments returned by the Du Page County grand jury.

Willowbrook Police Chief Steven List said the Willowbrook boy experienced chest pains after being hit by one of the alleged offenders. He said the Darien girl suffered a black eye in the incident. Both were taken to nearby hospitals and released after treatment, he said.

List said the defendants were cruising the Darien area in a car and took candy from six children. He said a witness provided police with their car`s license number, and they were arrested a short time later by Willowbrook police.
