In the story, the story of Yoshi's Island is recreated in which baby Mario falls into a big ocean and Yoshi and his friends go to help him, however, that was their worst mistake.

Throughout the night, Yoshi finds the corpses of various characters, such as Kamek and various Koopas as he follows the crying baby Mario to the castle, once he finds the baby, he discovers that the baby was cursed so that later the demonic baby Mario kills Yoshi. After he dies, the Game Over screen will appear and press to space to continue, an image of demonic Yoshi similar to baby Mario will appear which locks the game with an error message.

The backstory of the ROM hack is mysterious and the elements given to build a supposed story are left to interpretation, leaving the story of Mario and Peach unfinished.

GB[]

File:GB V2 defeat icon.pngGB is an exe by Marco Antonio originally exclusive to Mario's Madness, but now has his own creepypasta known as Black & White.

Chapter 1: Origins (Link)

File:TheGoldenCoinsDidntSaveHer.png

After a company called OptiSoft is hired by Nintendo to work on a successor for the Gameboy, a woman by the name of Christine Hermer is put in charge of creating a prototype of the console.

While working, Christine finds out one night that her entire house was gonna be repossessed in a month, causing her to lose her mind.

She soon wakes up and sees a set of white dots resembling a person on her screen. She then decides to use the floppy disk with her code in it and then inserts it into Super Mario Land 2, reloads the code, causing the silhouette to take form of a monochrome Mario which she names GB. Fascinated, and thinking she created her own AI, Christine began to experiment with GB, essentially abusing him. GB asks her to stop, but she refuses, causing him to get angered.

After GB burns the disk, Christine goes to sleep, only to have a nightmare, in which GB gets payback for the abuse she gave him. After waking up to get tea, Christine notices her TV is full of static. GB then manifests from the TV into real life and the TV blows up, leaving Christine in total darkness. Only hearing her breathing, her beating heart, and GB's slow footsteps, he walks up to her, saying they are going to have fun for a long time, and then kills her.

Too Late.exe[]

File:Luigifalls.JPG

After a tragic event where Luigi seemingly dies, Mario goes through level 1-1 of SMB3 depressed. Mario soon finds Luigi alive again but instead of his brother he finds a twisted and demented version of Luigi, called Mr. L, who transports him into a world where he would have to survive from him.

After going through the twisted worlds, Mr. L kidnapped Princess Peach and called Mario to come rescue her, Mario was sent to NES SMB level 1-1 where he ran through the entire level until he encountered multiple Luigi clones until he was shot down by the real Luigi on the bridge. Mr. L reveals that he tortured him out of pure revenge for not saving him when he fell into the lava, causing him to return as a terrifying poltergeist.

Mr. L finally kills Mario as he dies, throwing him into the lava, telling him beforehand that it was too late to apologize and throwing a jumpscare at the player telling him it was too late to save Mario which causes the game to close. Upon reopening the game, the credits are shown but at the end Mr. L appears looking at the player with Peach's body lying on the ground.

MX[]

File:MMV2 Powerdown Icon.pngIcon.pngMX originates from a Super Mario Bros. Creepypasta game called Mario '85, developed by SquishyBox.

File:MXCHASE.png

Game download (link)

MX is an unknown entity who inhabited a copy of the first Super Mario Bros. that ended up in the hands of Mark, who gave it to his nephew, Lucas, thinking it was a normal cartridge. Lucas was tricked by MX to look at the game screen and killed the boy with an epileptic seizure, he took his soul and put it in Luigi's body.

Lucas saw that he was in world 1-1, ran through the level to the end where he encountered Mario, Mario told Lucas to go back to the beginning as he left a surprise for him. Lucas ran back to the beginning while being chased and encountered a pipe that took him underground and saved him from being caught by MX.

Inkbowser.exe[]

File:InkbowserIconSolo.pngIcon.pngInkbowser.exe originates from his titular game.

File:InkbowserEndScreen.png

Fan-game download (link)

Starting off as a seemingly normal copy of Super Mario Bros., the second level is where things take a turn for the worst. After walking down what appears to be an endless cave, Mario comes across what appears a green goo-like substance up ahead.

After walking through it for a while and coming into contact with some writing on the wall, Mario comes face to face with a creature that manifests in front of him. This creature turns out to be Bowser, except he's covered in the goo. After grabbing Mario, Inkbowser takes him to an ink stained version of 1-1 with a green sky.

After walking through this area, Mario finds Peach on a bridge with Inkbowser near the axe. Without time for Mario react, Inkbowser collapses the bridge, dropping Peach into the ink colored water, essentially killing her.

Mario then wakes up in a completely green environment covered in some of the ink. After walking forward again for a while, he comes into contact with a large machine where, after looking up, gets covered in ink, presumably killing him as well. The game ends with Inkbowser looking at the player and jumpscaring them.

SMD Luigi[]

File:SMDLuigiFanmadeIcon2.0.pngIcon.pngSMD Luigi is a version of Luigi from a Mario fangame known as Super Mario Dolor by Ziggity.

Reupload Download (Link)

While Super Mario Dolor is presented as a fairly normal bootleg Mario game on the surface, there is a much darker meaning behind it.

1-1 starts out fairly normal, but Mario than dies at the end unexpectedly, and after going through it again and hitting a brick wall, the game suddenly changes to a red environment with eyeballs and strange entities.

This continues all the way to the castle level where it's revealed a shadow-like Mario was seemingly behind it all, but this is only because Mario forgot to take pills, and the true culprit is still unknown.

That is, unless the player were to find hidden green stars, which they would brought back to 1-1, only for Mario to fall through the floor and be met with a large murderous version of Luigi.

After battling it like he did with the Shadow Mario, Mario wakes up and, after leaving his house, seems to be walking somewhere with flowers.

Soon after the creator expresses his thanks to everyone involved with the game and the people who played it, Mario puts the flowers down and walks away. It's revealed shortly after that the flowers were for Luigi, who died by an unknown cause, revealing that Luigi's death was the reason Mario had the nightmare, and explains all the creepy events that occurred.

Infection Mario[]

Infection Mario comes from the fan-game Super Mario The Infection by Mr. Pixel.

Victim #1[]

File:TheVictimLose.pngIcon.png Victim #1, better known as The Victim, is the victim of a killing that was documented in a ROM hack called "MARIO".

File:Victim -1 appearance.webp

ROM Hack download (link)

In the hack rom, Mario travels through Dinosaur Land but it is narrated that Mario himself has made Princess Peach Toadstool disappear, when passing the level, Yoshi is released from his egg and says that it was Mario who had imprisoned him, while the hack rom was progressing, until you reach the castle of the first island, now named "#1 Iggy's Castle", inside there were many Message Block that gave the message if Mario saying that if he had caused enough trouble.

After passing a bottomless pit, Mario is confronted by Iggy who throws him into the lava, then takes the egg out of the castle and the castle is destroyed and a message appears: Victim #1. Eyeballs were unable to be found. The victim was found lying on the carpet. Causes of death unknown, handmarks with unidentifiable fingerprints were found all over the corpse.

In the last level, Mario finds himself in Donut Plains 1, where he is transported after entering an invisible warp pipe. Mario instantly turns into Super Mario and finds himself inside a black room with many inaccessible doors. When he reaches the end of the room, it contains another invisible pipe leading to the last room of the hack, which contains nothing but a well.

Outside the hack rom, next to the game, is a .txt file, which when converted to a .jpg file, shows the reddish face of Victim #1.

DJ Hallyboo[]

File:DJHallybooMMIcon.pngDJ Hallyboo is the main antagonist of the Mario Party DS Anti Piracy series created by Joey Perleoni.

Mario Party DS Anti Piracy Playlist (link)

File:Dj Hallyboo.png

Host Hoedown WITH LYRICS (link)

The Mario Party DS Anti Piracy series is a cryptic series showing a custom-made screen for what happens if you were to pirate Mario Party DS. However, before this message appears, things in Mario Party DS begin to change before the screen shows.

The first episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy Screen", takes place within the "Cherry-Go-Round" minigame. The game plays out as normal until shortly after the minigame begins, in which the game quickly crashes before then taking the player to the titular anti-piracy screen. The first error window before the crash also includes a hexadecimal cipher, decoding to "hellsatan".

The second episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Item Shop Dialogue/Secret Boss HD", involves the item shop, where after the Monty Mole shopkeeper says his usual welcoming, he then says "Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I don't serve criminals.". This brings the player to a minigame simply titled "Run", and after the minigame starts, a large static noise can be heard and as soon as the Monty Mole catches up, the game crashes and sends the player to the anti-piracy screen. The hexadecimal in this episode decodes to "luigi mod".

The third episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy Screen (HD) (Extended)", takes place in a similar setting as the first, this time in the "Rail Riders" minigame. In a similar fashion, the game crashes and takes the player to the anti-piracy screen shortly after the minigame starts, though in this minigame it takes a few more seconds. As the episode's title suggests, it also shows an extended cut of the anti-piracy screen, leaving it on-screen for much longer than normal. The hexadecimal in this episode decodes to "thx4luv!".

The fourth episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Final 5 Frenzy Death Event", takes place during Final 5 Frenzy, in which Bowser offers to help the player since they're in last, however, all of the options are replaced by "Thwomp". After the wheel stops, Bowser says "Criminal chumps like you have no place in this party! Get out of here!" A Thwomp then crushes the player with Bowser than saying "How's that for generosity? Bwahaha!". The game then crashes shorty after.

The fifth episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Forced Character Removal", involves everyone but the player being removed from the game. The reason for this is as the game states: "Nobody wants to party with a criminal." The player then gets dropped into a hole as the game crashes. The hexadecimal in this episode decodes to "morsemor".

The sixth episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Shy Guy Consumption", takes place in the minigame "Sweet Sleuth", a minigame where the player must bring a Shy Guy the correct candy he wants. Things start out fine until the third candy, where instead the Shy Guy chooses to eat the player rather than candy. The game once again crashes shorty after this shocking event.

The seventh episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Power Off Refusal", has the player listening to the anti-piracy screen, attempting to power the DS off. However, it refuses, instead it leads to a Nintendo Anti-Piracy Self Reporter and a call with 911 with instructions for the player on what to say.

The eighth episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Personified Host", revolves around "Score Scuffle" and has the host stating that the player could be off their game due to owning an illegal copy of Mario Party DS. This leads to an entirely new minigame called "Host Hoedown" with a strange, shadowed figure. The minigame's instructions are written entirely in Japanese, with the rules reading "Overcome his hard hits using increasingly Nintendo Control." and the controls stating "Hudson-This is not necessary. It will extend the launch considerably.". However, the system once again crashes before the minigame is started. The hexadecimal in this episode decodes to "Hallyboo".

The ninth episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Host Hoedown", is where DJ Hallyboo makes his appearance in the game known. Before the minigame actually starts, there are messages about how the player has made DJ Hallyboo upset for being a criminal and "playing for free". The minigame soon starts and instead of being the usual minigames, this instead is a 1 on 1 boss minigame involving the host, and the player. The minigame involves the player tracing their apologies before DJ Hallyboo attacks, but the third word being "criminal" is rigged to have the player lose, causing them to get crushed by a thwomp and end up back at the Anti-Piracy screen. The hexadecimal in this episode decodes to "watchdemon.jit". Soon, directly one day after Host Hoedown's premiere, Juno Songs, a user known for adding lyrics to certain songs in media, made a lyrics video on the theme that plays during the Host Hoedown minigame, eventually leading him to become the official VA for DJ Hallyboo in both the series and the mod.

The tenth episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Rocket Ship Incident", revolves around "Rocket Rascals" having the player successfully win the game and approach the rocket. However, the rocket is unable to launch properly as the game fades to black, with a popup appearing reading "You can be a rascal, Luigi. But you can't be a criminal.". The game then crashes once more.

From this point forward, the series then takes on a "live-action" style rather than just simple gameplay footage. The first of these new episodes takes place as a livestream simply titled "The police are at my house." As the title suggests, the player, Joey Perleoni, is arrested by the police. The second episode, simply titled "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy |", has a silhouetted figure (presumably Joey) sit down in a narrow room and start playing Mario Party DS.

The third episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy |", showcases a commercial for McDonalds featuring two actors wearing masks of Toad and Luigi. Toad then finds a demo of Mario Party DS inside his happy meal. As the commercial continues rolling, the background music is eventually cut off as the Luigi mask is removed, revealing the actor to be Joey. Toad's actor also strangely vanishes from the set, as the lights go out while Joey looks up at the camera.

The fourth episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Download Play Entity", shows a recording of Joey attempting to begin a local play game, eventually finding another player simply known as "Mammon".

The fifth and final episode, "Mario Party DS Anti Piracy | Finale", takes place as the main series finale. The episode opens with Joey leaving the James M. Hanley U.S. Courthouse and eventually returning home. He then goes onto his computer and opens an emulator, returning to the "Host Hoedown" minigame and using a cheat to bypass all his attacks. Unfortunately for him, the prompts then begin reading a looping message: "you won't like my true form". Soon enough, DJ Hallyboo emerges from the game itself, revealing himself from behind Joey's desk. A chase sequence throughout the neighborhood then ensues, with DJ Hallyboo eventually calling the police for backup (additionally being joined by the Toad actor). Joey then stops in his tracks, turning back and calling out how ridiculous this whole situation is. This doesn't stop DJ Hallyboo as he sends Joey inside the DS before destroying it entirely, concluding the series.

Mr. Virtual[]

File:Scary virtual.png

Mr. Virtual is a malicious entity residing in the Virtual Boy console. In life, Mr. Virtual was originally a simple human nicknamed "V" who was a circus performer and contortionist who lived a life of struggle and torment before one day he exploded and burned down the circus where he worked and saw his acquaintances die before his very eyes, the screams of his companions caused him to feel a sense of pure euphoria, and this led him to a life of crime, becoming a serial killer.

His murders caught the attention of Detective Thomas Anderson, who immediately took steps to hunt down Victor, until months of investigation later, he would finally be captured on May 13, 1995. The chase would lead the detective and V to the E3 being held, where the latter was killed by the detective. Unfortunately for the detective's fate, "V's" soul became bound to the Virtual Boy system, turning him into a poltergeist, who became known as Mr. Virtual.

Promotion Mario, Stanley, Classified Luigi and Costume[]

File:ClassifiedCastleIcon.pngPromotion Mario and Stanley originate from an analog horror web series called Super Mario 64: Classified made by Greenio. In the series, Stanley is the personification of the personalizatiom A.I. of the "Every copy of Super Mario 64 is personalized" theory.

Super Mario 64: Classified (link)

File:Stanley other form.jpeg

The series also tells a alternative story about Mario and Luigi. Luigi's death during a promotion show hosted by Mario represents Nintendo discarding him for the game and leaving his code in a statue of a Power Star.

On July 29th, 1995, The protagonist Jim, as a result of stress and burn-out during the development of Super Mario 64, had a seizure when he activated the automatic-enhancer, referred as "Textureless Mario" out-of-universe, making a false memory of that day.

Instead of activating Stanley, he thinks he initially destroyed it. After realizing the danger of Stanley's power in the humanity, Jim stole the build from the Nintendo building and gets obsessive towards the game, unaware that he was torturing Stanley.

Now under their control, Mario now has been tasked one goal: To retrieve the Power Stars, and kill anyone who dares to stop him. Mario soon manages to gain hold of a large sword after stealing it from one of the Toads, which he then uses as his main weapon. Everyone is now forced to get in Mario's way to prevent him from gaining the Power Stars...even the princess and his own brother. Luigi attempts to fight at every chance he gets, but everyone ultimately ends up failing and Mario becomes unstoppable, killing everyone. For a second however, Mario regains conscious, seeing the damage those Boos made him do. To prevent any further harm, Mario stabs himself in the chest with the sword he had in an attempt to destroy the Boos grasp and he succeeds, taking his own life, and the Boos that had control over him.

SMG4 Mario[]

Friday Night Funkin': Mario's Madness/Origins (1)SMG4 Mario, like in his name, originates from a YouTube channel known as SMG4.

SMG4's Channel (link)

File:Top10MomentsBeforeDisaster.png
File:DerpingMario.png

Mario in this channel is portrayed as a dunce who wants nothing more than to have spaghetti, but he wasn't always like this. Later down the channel's lifespan, it was revealed that the storyline of SMG4 occurred right after the end of Super Mario 64, and the that reason Mario acts this way is because a pod shocked him, causing his mind to completely deteriorate into what he is now.

The channel itself is known online for having a large following from fans due to the humor, and a cast of characters simply being recolors of Mario at the time, including Luigi at the time since he didn't have his own SM64 model yet, however some recolors also had unique personalities, such as Minion or Captain Lardbutt.

Overtime these characters were swapped out with OCs along with other media character with eventually the characters getting original models in 2022.

The series as of today is hugely divided on, due to it's immense change it has gone through in the decade with it's humor and storytelling.

After Luigi shows up and Mario describes the food on the menu, Luigi instead asks for a burger, and Mario obviously denies. Luigi suddenly gains a demonic voice with soulless eyes demanding for the burger, with Mario denying again. After a bit more talking, Luigi, out of nowhere, pulls out a shotgun, shooting Mario with it.

A toad then shows up selling the burgers Luigi wants, but he decides he wants a pizza pie instead, then killing the toad. Another Toad then shows up selling tacos, running away before Luigi can shoot him too.

Theories[]

L is Real Luigi[]

File:MMLisRealIcon.pngL is Real Luigi originates from a Super Mario 64 theory called L is Real 2401.

File:Mario 64 Fountain.png

SwankyBox's L is Real documentaries (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3)

Due the low-quality texture of a sign in a statue of a Power Star, it was believed that what was written in the statue was "L is Real 2401", referencing that Luigi was present in the game. a bounty was made by the website IGN offering US$100 as a reward for unlocking Luigi.

The theory was deconfirmed after the Reddit user b0nd18t received a letter from Nintendo's Customer Service saying that the text was meant to be a joke.

However, 24 years and one month after the release of Super Mario 64, an early version of Super Mario 64 were leaked in the Nintendo Gigaleak. It contained the textures, model, and other assets for Luigi, revealing that Luigi was meant for the game.

Wario Apparition[]

The theory claims that all copies of Super Mario 64 contain an artificial intelligence that modifies the game in order to better appeal to the player. The Wario Apparition is one of the anomalies generated by the intelligence and players wishes for Wario to be in the game. It is generally considered that personalized build is the 1995/07/29 build.

Upon the release of the film, people were pleasantly surprised, as Chris Pratt as Mario turned out way better than how the trailers initially portrayed it.

Beta Luigi[]

File:Sad Luigi normal icon.pngFile:MMV2AloneMarioIcon.pngBeta Luigi and Beta Mario originate from the Luigi's Mansion beta, specifically after the game over, in a hypothetical scenario where Luigi was never able to save Mario from the clutches of King Boo.

In the game over for the Luigi's Mansion beta, the camera would zoom outside past the fence, then a depressed or possessed Luigi would then raise his head in time with a lightning strike. In the Telephone Room of the final game, when lightning illuminates the room, a suspended shadow of Luigi appears as a result of a lighting engine glitch, however it was interpreted that it was Luigi's hanging himself. The two are commonly associated with each other.

The game is basically very much the same like a normal Sonic game, but instead Sonic is replaced by Mario, the level designs are completely different, and Mario in this bootleg runs much slower compared to Sonic. The game is known mostly for being criticized heavily for these things, but also because it was featured on one of SpaceHamster's videos, it which he essentially parodied stuff in the game like how it came to be, and because he also read a fake plot on Somari's Wikipedia article page that was there at the time.

Commonly referred to as Bald/Shaved Mario, Mark's inspiration comes from a Photoshop edit of Mario made to look like he has no hair or moustache.

It wasn't until another user known as november17 reposted the image that it went viral, to which many other users responded to the picture with horror. In addition, IGN writer/producer Alanah Pearce quote retweeted the post saying "I don't want to live on this planet anymore.", gaining over 950 retweets.

The popularity rise of the image led to it being used in many memes, which led to a Mario's Madness April Fools song combining the image with a character in ads known as Mr. Clean.

Taco Stand Waluigi[]

File:MMWaluigiicon.webpTaco Stand Waluigi originaties from an inside joke on GameFAQs, as well as a ROM hack known as Waluigi's Taco Stand.

File:TacoStandWaluigiOrigin.png

Waluigi's Taco Stand is a fictional mock video game. The game features the Nintendo character Waluigi as the proprietor of a taco stand. The game has inspired fan art, parody commercials and joke rumors about its existence, which, as the rumor goes, has been hidden by Nintendo.

A user known as Yoshizilla-Rhedosaurus than published a piece of fan-fiction entitled "Waluigi's Taco Stand." They describe the story as "Waluigi crafts a taco stand in the south end of Seaside Hill. He'll get many customers and money, but he'll have to deal with the effects of stupidity like Princess Daisy's farting, Toadette's innocently cute antics, high quality Siivagunner nonsense, plus Dry Bowser and Petey Piranha. 5 years old and with 500 chapters! Expecting anything out of this fanfic? TOO BAD, WALUIGI TIME."

Six years later, on August 8th, 2018, YouTuber Kaze Emanuar published a mock "lost" commercial for the game. The post (shown below, left) received more than 63,000 views in less than two weeks.

Scripulous Fingore refers to an internet hoax claiming that in the files for the video game New Super Mario Bros. on the Nintendo DS, Scripulous Fingore was an unused ghost enemy that Shigeru Miyamoto refused to explain the origins due to being "unusually upset".

The character was often compared to another hoax character coming from the Simpsons known as Gumbly, who was used in a similar way to Scripulous Fingore.

A Twitter user known as Isaiah later used the character in a meme audio of Saltydkdan saying "It was you! You are the cringe ass nae nae baby of legend!".

The character was then used by a YouTuber known as DAK0TA!, making a video of Scripulous Fingore raising his finger and wagging it, captioned, "nuh uh", which is often what the character is used for when it comes to GIFs.

All of this lead to Scripulous Fingore unintentionally becoming a incredibly huge face in the Mario fandom.

Shadow-Shana one day was playing "MarioKart: Double Dash!" with a friend playing as Mario and Luigi. When Mario is the second one in the end of a race, he say the slightly ominous line "Oki doki. Mario will get you next time!", and decided to make an art piece based on it.

Shadow-Shana then made a sequel for the "Turn Good 2 Evil Evil 2 Good" contest on DeviantArt, originally planning to submit Super Horror Mario, but contest only allowed to make new art pieces, so then came the "Lovely Princess", possibly the partner to Super Horror Mario, due to as Shadow-Shana says "Every Super Horror Mario needs a Super Horror Princess Peach!!"

Later, the art was used many times without credit in creepypasta's and YouTube thumbnails without credit to Shadow-Shana, usually calling Horror Mario; "Mario.exe", despite the art coming before the popular Sonic.exe creepypasta.

Turmoil used to be a normal Mario like any other, until he found a certain mushroom from an unknown area. Little did Mario know this mushroom had some of Yoshi's code inside of it, so as a result, after consuming it, Mario started to lose control of both his mind and body. The emblem on his hat disappeared, as well as his overall buttons, his eyes became larger, and his teeth became yellow and extremely sharp. Among the addition of a large tongue he uses at will very much like Yoshi, he was no longer the happy go-lucky hero everyone knew. That mushroom had turned him into a blind predator looking to consume anything he can hear move.
