“You weren’t so much as objectively investigating Karen Read as objectifying her, correct?” Jackson asked.

Here are some of the text messages that Proctor sent to various parties beginning on Jan. 29, 2022, when the investigation was less than 24 hours old.

Texts on Jan. 29, 2022, the day O’Keefe’s body was found in the snow outside a Canton home, between Proctor and a number of his unnamed friends

Proctor: “There will be some serious charges brought on the girl.”

Friend: “Gotta be. I can only imagine what Internal Affairs of the BPD are trying to get out there.”

“She hot, at least?”

Proctor: “From all accounts, he didn’t do anything wrong. She’s a whack job [expletive].” (Proctor testified that he was referring to Brian Albert, who owned the home where O’Keefe’s body was found outside, when he mentioned the person who did nothing wrong).

“Yeah, she’s a babe.”

“Weird Fall River accent though.”

“No ass.”

Texts sent Jan. 29, 2022 between Proctor and his sister, Courtney

Proctor: “What’s up?”

Courtney: “What? Why?”

Proctor: “Just found a frozen to death on a front lawn in Canton this morning. Actually just interviewed Jen McCabe. Said she knows you.”

Courtney: “Cut the [expletive].”

“Yeah, she knows Jack very well. She’s really good friends with Julie [Albert]. Her sister is married to Brian Albert. You still working?”

Proctor: “Yep. Gonna be out for a while. Homicide.”

Courtney: “The Canton thing is a homicide?”

Proctor: “Don’t say a word to anyone.”

Courtney: “Of course not.”

Proctor: “In the very least, it’s suspicious.”

Courtney: “This is your livelihood. I would never mess with that.”

Proctor: “Julie and [husband] Chris [Albert] were at the bar with the victim and girlfriend. Got to interview them.”

Texts between Proctor and his sister in early February 2022

Proctor: “What’s up?”

Courtney: “Nothing. I just saw Julie [Albert] and she said when this is all over she wants to get you a thank you gift.”

Proctor: “Get Elizabeth one.” (Elizabeth Proctor is his wife).

Courtney: “Because I guess her and Chris [Albert] were friends with John and she’s so proud of you for leading this.” (Chris Albert is Julie’s husband).

“Elizabeth?”

Proctor: “She’s been stuck with the kids for the last ten nights.”

Courtney: “Yeah. But she knew what life is like married to a cop.”

Proctor: “[State Police Sgt.] Yuri [Bukhenik] and I had two conference calls with her. Sent her numerous photos, etc. We laid out the entire case for her.”

DiCicco: “Not good enough. Should have had me or Jeff do it.”

Proctor: “If you two did it, she would have made it accidental or natural causes.”

Proctor: “Of course it’s undetermined. She was a whack job.”

DiCicco: “Dear God. WTF. What the hell is inconclusive about the whole thing?”

(The troopers were remarking on the fact that the medical examiner had ruled that O’Keefe’s manner of death was undetermined.)

Texts between Proctor, DiCicco, and a third trooper on June 9, 2022, following Read’s indictment

Proctor: “The statement she made [at the Milton barracks post-arrest] was mental. Thank Christ it was on BWC,” body-worn camera.

Third trooper: “That’s her — smoke.”

“What she say?”

Proctor: “Said the Alberts beat the [expletive] out of O’Keefe, left him for dead, and that’s why her taillight was cracked. She’s gross.”

DiCicco: “Oh, [expletive] her. [Expletive].”

Texts between Proctor, DiCicco, and other troopers on Aug. 17, 2022

Proctor testified that DiCicco had texted a photo of Read attorney David Yannetti on that date.

Proctor: “Funny, I’m going through his retarded client’s phone.”

“No nudes so far.”

“I hate that man. I truly hate him.”

Proctor’s testimony Monday

On the stand Monday, Proctor said the messages were unprofessional and “regrettable.”

“These juvenile, unprofessional comments had zero impact on the facts, the evidence, and the integrity of the investigation,” Proctor said.
