TheVonage HT802telephone adapterconnects to your existing broadbandinternet connection to provide you with telephoneservice for up to two phone numbers or a phone number and fax number.

Set Up Vonage HT802 Phone Adapter

Before you set up your Vonage HT802phone adapter,check your package contents and make sure your home/office environment has the correct equipment.

Setup Requirements

  • Universal AC Power Adaptor(supplies 5V DC at 1 Amp to the adapter using a Micro USBconnector)
  • One Ethernet Cable
  • Quick Start Guide
Your Environment:
  • Broadband Internet Connection
  • Telephone and Telephone Cord
  • Ethernet cable that goes from your modem to your computer or router
  • Router, Modem/Router or Router Switch with an open Ethernet (LAN) port

    NOTE: If you do not have an open Ethernet (LAN) port available, it is recommended that you use a router to expand the number of accessible Ethernet (LAN) ports.This ensures you have enough ports to house and access allof your devices (such as your computer and phone) at the same time.


Setup Instructions

  1. Connect the blue Ethernet cable to the Internet (blue) port on the back of the Vonage HT802 adapter.Connect the other end to an open Ethernet (LAN) portto the back of your router, router/modem or managed switch on your network.
  2. Connect the power supply for your adapter to theMicro USB 5V 1A DCport on the back of the Vonage HT802 adapter and plug other end into a power source. Use of a surge protection device is recommended.
  3. Wait for the HT802 to complete the power on cycle. This may take several minutes to complete.
    CAUTION: Do not disconnect the power from the Vonage HT802 adapter when the INTERNET and PHONE LEDs are blinking in unison.
  4. Confirmthe Power LED light on top of theVonage HT802 adapter is blue.Wait for the Internet LED top and Phone(s) LED on top of the HT802 adapter to turn blue.
  5. Connect your phone cord to the Phone port (1 or 2) on the back of the Vonage HT802 adapter.

Status Indicators andVoice ResponseMessages

You can learn about the state of your Vonage HT802 adapter byviewing theLEDs on the top of your adapter orbylistening to thevoice response messages that are played through your telephone handset when an error is encountered.Whenan LEDdisplays a steady bluelight, it indicates the source is On and functioning properly. If an indicator is not lit or shows a fast blink, pick up your telephone handset and listen to the message, if any.

Fast Blink

LED flickering. Issue with Internet.

Telephone 1 & 2

Indicates status of Phone Ports 1 and 2.

ONLED is blue. Ready to make calls.
OFF

LED unlit.Phone line is notregistered. Cannot make calls.

Blink

LED blinks every second. Phone off hook/In Use.

Slow BlinkLED blinks slowly. You have voicemail messages. Phonehas Voicemail Stutter Tone.

Voice Response Messages

The following messagesmay be heard when an error is encountered and the telephonehandset is taken off the hook:

Message:Your Internet cable is not connected.
Solution:

Make certain thatyour Internet cable is securely connected to theInternet port on your Vonage HT802 adapter
and your router/modem.

Follow instructions to restart your network devices, if connectivity is not restored.

Message:Check to see if your Internet service is down.
Solution:
  1. Make certain thatyour Internet cable is securely connected to the Vonage HT802 adapter and your router/modem.
  2. Verify that you have Internet access from your computer to the router/modem that is connected to the Vonage HT802 adapter.

Follow instructions to restart your network devices, if connectivity is not restored.

Message:Device is not registered with your service provider.
Solution:
  1. Make certain thatyour Internet cable is securely connected to the Vonage HT802 adapter and your router/modem.
  2. Verify that you have Internet access from your computer to the router/modem that is connected to the Vonage HT802 adapter.

Follow instructions to restart your network devices, if connectivity is not restored.

Message:Telephone line is not yet set up for use. A telephone number has not been assigned tothis line.
Solution:

Verify that all connections are secure and you have Internet connectivity.

If you continue to receive this message,contact us as your telephone may not beproperly assigned.

Message:Go to vonage.com to activate service.
Solution:No phone line (calling plan) is associated with either Phone port.
Message:Your phone may be connected to the incorrect port. Please try the other port.
Solution:You have one phone line (calling plan) and you have connected your telephone to the incorrect Phone port on rear panel of HT802. Connect your telephone to other Phone port.

Restart Your Adapter and NetworkDevices

If your Vonage HT802 adapter is not functioning properly after checking connections, restart your network devices to see if connectivity returns.

  1. Power off the Vonage HT802 adapter.
  2. Power off your router or modem router.
  3. Power up your modem or modem router and wait for power cycle to complete.
  4. Verify that the Internet accessible through a computer that is connected to your router.
  5. Power up the Vonage HT802 adapter. The power cycle can take a few minutes. Once powered up the Phone LED is lit. A slow blink indicates you have voicemail.
    Do not unplug the Vonage HT802 adapter when both the Internet and Phone LEDs are blinking in unison.
