rci3 | rci3 Member 2005-Mar-28 8:37 pm [Vonage] Vonage replacement?Hi, I'm looking around for a replacement for Vonage. I'm tired of their charging me for everything, and I was even more shocked when I discovered that it'll cost me $40 to cancel my second line??? I can see them charging that to close out your acct, but just to cancel a second line? I'm also tired of their poor customer service. But so far I haven't found another provider that offers what Vonage does? Really the sticking point for me are virtual numbers. It's important that I have a virtual number in Montreal. Do any other providers offer virtual numbers in Canada?? If not then I guess I'm stuck with Vonage. Thanks! Laurie. |

Ask again at dslreports@vonage.com and explain to them it is a second line on a single TA. Its been a long time for me, but they should be mistaken on this point. rci3 | rci3 Member 2005-Mar-29 1:59 am Thanks for your reponses. Broadvox definitely sounds interesting, but I can't seem to find their TOS anywhere on their site?? Does anyone know about their fees? Setup, disconnect, etc? As for Vonage... yes, they do charge $40 per line termination. So to just dump my second line I'd have to pay. However, if I dropped both lines and sent my ATA back, they'd refund me my money? I just don't see how they can charge you $40 for terminating a second line on the same ATA? I thought the fee was to offset the cost of the ATA? Really I wish they'd let me buy my own ATA and send theirs back and have any future fees waved. But that's not likely to happen eh. I do have a question about Vonage. What if I send my ATA back before having my service terminated? I wonder if I could work that out with them if and when I choose to leave. I don't see why they'd have a problem doing that? I really don't like the idea of paying them and then having to wait for a refund after they receive the ATA back. Really I think that's a poor policy. They should at least give you like 10 days to return it or something without charging you! Laurie. |

| Medic63 to usa2k Member 2005-Mar-29 6:27 am OK, so there's the set-up fees, but what about the disconnect fee and the Terms of Service, eh? Those are not as easy to find. To see those you have to begin the process to sign-up for the service. It seems the disconnect fee is charged when the adapter is not returned or is returned in poor condition and can vary from $80 to $150 (according to the terms of service). The Terms of Service and disconnect/equipment fees are the same for both BroadVoxDirect and VoIP.net. Edit: USA2K beat me to it (sort of |

| Shawn C Blower to usa2k Anon 2005-Apr-6 3:19 pm I believe that broadbandvox and voip.net are one in the same. I could be wrong, but if you compare their sites they're almost identical. Not to mention I believe they have the same access numbers. |
